Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Berlin bound

Spend three nights in the German capital for under £250 per person on selected dates this month and next. British Airways is offering flights from Heathrow plus accommodation with breakfast at the three-star Comfort Hotel Lichtenberg in the north-east of the city for £238, based on two sharing, if you fly out on Friday 13 July, returning on Monday 16 July. Similar prices prevail on some other dates (ba.com/berlin).

Vacances en France

Keycamp is offering a family summer holiday just outside Paris for £998. The price is based on a family of up to four adults and two children staying in a mobile home at La Croix de Vieux Pont and a Dover-Calais ferry departure on 5 August. Features of the park include a lake, kids' clubs, a pool with slides, restaurant and bar. Disneyland Paris is also within easy reach (keycamp.co.uk).

Ancient empires

Short-notice cruise bargains abound this summer. See Rome, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Santorini, Athens, Olympia, Ephesus and Taormina on a 10-night Roman Empire cruise with Holland America Line. The price of £849 per person includes return flights from London on 17 July, transfers to Rome's port at Civitavecchia and an inside cabin aboard MS Noordam (hollandamerica.co.uk).

Australia road trip

A 12-day New South Wales road trip with an Apollo motorhome in November is a real bargain at £895 per person, flying Etihad from Heathrow to Sydney via Abu Dhabi on various dates that month. You can explore the beaches of the North Coast around Byron Bay, the winelands of the Hunter Valley, the Outback, national parks and lots more (austravel.com).
