Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Change of scene

The Austrian Tirol transforms into a picture of edelweiss-dotted pastures once the snow has melted. And if hiking boots are more your thing than skis, consider VJV's "Going Going Tirol" break: £675 per person grants you a seven-night stay with breakfast in the town of Going at the four-star Dorfhotel Schnablwirt, a traditional hotel complete with sauna and steam room. Also included is return airfare departing on 22 May from Heathrow.

A narrow escape

If floating down picturesque canals and visiting local pubs sounds ideal, Waterways Holidays has some boating breaks to tempt. A week spent on the Farndale Valley narrowboat costs £848 for up to six people during April and May. A shorter three- or four-night cruise on the Blythe Valley narrowboat is £583. Jump on at Stratford-upon-Avon, then take the route to Tewkesbury or head to leafy Warwick. Book by 10 April.
