All European airports were open on the morning of May 12, according to air traffic control authorities, although some were operating with restrictions.
Spanish airports, hit by restrictions over the weekend and during this week, have now reopened.
Current forecasts show that the remaining ash is expected to dissipate during the day, and European Air Traffic Controllers say that a normal number of flights is expected May 12.
Data from the UK Met Office and Iceland's meteorological service shows that the Eyjafjallajokull volcano is still erupting, with plumes shooting up to 18,000 feet (5486 meters).
