Daisy Lowe: My life in travel

Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.I hid under the table at Disneyland.
My cousin and I were terrified of Goofy. You know how they do those Disney breakfasts at the Disney hotels? Well, they came to our breakfast table. To be honest I don't think I was actually that scared, I think my cousin made me think I should be, and then I was genuinely really scared.
I went to Istanbul twice in a month.
Once with my friends and once with my family. It is much more of a friend city, I reckon. The weather's beautiful, the food is incredible. My favourite thing was walking around the Galata Tower. And there are some amazing vintage shops and gorgeous little cafés. All kinds of off-the-beaten-track stuff. I was very naughty and bought an incredible diamond ring at an antique shop. But I figured, I'm going to give this to my grandchildren. This will be what I leave them, so, it's fine.
I had a Turkish bath with the whole family.
It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. My stepdad ended up taking photos on his phone and I was like, "Not for social media!" Then as soon as we got home, what did he do? Put the photos straight up! It was so naughty, all of us in our full towelling attire. It's brilliant though. You leave feeling amazing. I feel like I need to go back to do even more exploring because there's so much to do.
There's no city quite like London.
The parks are probably the most amazing thing about it; a third of the centre of our capital is covered in parks. It's funny because I moved to New York seven years ago and stayed there for two years; I remember thinking, as a New York resident, that we Brits really needed to up our game as far as food was concerned because the restaurants there are so simple, so easy, and so brilliant. And, actually, in the past five years, since I've moved back, the food in London has improved amazingly. The energy in London is so good, it's so much fun. I think British humour is brilliant. It makes me very happy.
On a road trip around America I found a place called Inspiration Point.
It's in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. At a certain time of day, the way that the light hits the waterfall that's coming off one of the incredible mountains creates a rainbow around the waterfall. We got there at exactly the right time. It was magical.
The trip was so much fun. I started out at Coachella and from there we drove to Las Vegas where we saw Cirque du Soleil on the first night and Cher on the second night. It was hilarious. We were away for two weeks. I couldn't drive at that time so I was just DJ-ing in the passenger seat.
I'd love to go to the Rio Carnival one day.
I've only ever been to Rio for work and that's always been a few months before Carnival because that's when fashion week happens.
Whenever I visit Palm Springs I want to dress as a Fifties pin-up.
I don't know what it is about that place. Maybe it's the light in the middle of the mountains and the fact that there's not really many people around. The stars are incredible. And there's so much to do there; I always end up finding all these amazing things. It's almost like I go and try and embody the energy and the spirit of the place. It's a creative hub.
My first modelling trip opened up a whole new world.
I was 17 and shooting for H&M in Savannah, Georgia. It was one of the best weeks of my life. Going to a new place on my own with other models, it was amazing. We shot in an old abandoned railway station that had graffiti in it from as far back as the 1940s. There was just graffiti everywhere, it was so beautiful.
