Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Early is the new late as far as Club Med ( www.clubmed.co.uk) is concerned. From tomorrow the company opens bookings for its Winter 2010-11 season, with savings of up to £250 per adult or £125 per child if you book your next winter holidays before 14 July, rather than leaving everything until the last minute.
However, for those of us who struggle to organise themselves that far in advance, there is always the comfort of late deals from other operators. Skiing first: Inghams ( www.inghams.co.uk) is offering seven nights in the Austrain resort of Obergurgl for just £549 per person (based on two sharing) over Easter week. The price includes accommodation at the three-star Bergkristall Hotel, transfers and flights from Gatwick to Geneva. Departure on 3 April.
Alternatively W&0 Travel Ski Dream ( WandOtravel.com) is offering to take families slightly further afield at Easter: seven nights at the four-star Delta Whistler Village Suites in Whistler, Canada, cost from £1,149 per person and £549 per child (based on two adults and two children sharing). The price includes flights from Heathrow, transfers and accommodation in a one-bedroom suite on a room-only basis. Book before 20 March for 4 April departures.
Or why not take a tour? Jetsave ( jetsave.com) has a 16-day Eastern Adventure tour of the US and Canada, which starts in New York and takes in Boston, Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto, before ending up in Washington DC. The price of £1,279 per person (based on two sharing) includes Virgin Atlantic flights from London Heathrow, hotel accommodation for 14 nights, and the services of a tour director. Departure on 9 May.
Guinness anyone? The five-star Merrion Hotel (www.merrionhotel.com) in Dublin has a St Patrick’s Day offer, which includes two nights B&B accommodation, a “black velvet” cocktail each and two Grandstand tickets for the St Patrick’s Day Festival Parade. The price is from £136 per person per night (based on two sharing). Valid from 16-19 March.
Finally, Tunisia should be warming up by mid April. Voyages Jules Verne (www.vjv.com) is offering a seven-night tour of the country’s historic sights for £647 per person, including flights from Gatwick, transfers, full board and the services of a local guide. Departure on 18 April.
