Aviation: Why flying into Milk isn't as unlikely as it sounds

Destination: Milk International. This week plans were announced to rename San Francisco's airport after the gay rights activist and politician, Harvey Milk, who was assassinated in 1978 while serving as a city supervisor.

Should the change go ahead, it will join a host of other eponymous airports already in existence. In the US, Presidents Lincoln, Kennedy and Reagan all enjoy the privilege, along with musician Louis Armstrong and even comedian Bob Hope.

WA Mozart Airport in Austria pays homage to the classical maestro, while Copernicus Airport in Poland is a tribute to the mathematician. Still, the best flight from Milk International would have to be one destined for WK Kellogg Airport in Michigan; named after the founder of the breakfast cereal producer.
