Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The term "family holiday" is a bit of a misnomer. Can you really call it a holiday if you're running round after your little treasures all day? Which is why I want to go to one of those places where you get properly looked after, whatever your age. I'm talking kids' clubs and spa treatments and family time on a Greek beach.

Cadogan Holidays (08445 600 500; cadoganholidays.com) has a new family brochure featuring properties including the five-star St Nicholas Bay Resort Hotel and Villas in Crete. There are all sorts of water sports for adults and kids as well as spa treatments. And Cadogan has some great new provisions for hassled parents: check out its Holiday Nanny scheme and Tiny Tots Away service, which gets your baby gear sent out to your resort for arrival.

Mark Warner's newly refurbished Lakitira Beach Resort in Kos (0871 703 3889; markwarner. co.uk) has it going on Greek-style, too. There are clubs for everyone from the age of two to 17, and lots of opportunities to windsurf, waterski, sail, or just chill on the private family beach. The brand new rooms have all the necessary luxuries.

And for something a bit different, check out Kids in the Med (0845 277 3300; kidsinthemed.com). New for this season is the Grecotel Cape Sounio near Athens, which overlooks the ancient Temple of Poseidon. The kids' club focuses on helping youngsters to learn about the natural world, and its activities include rock pooling and underwater photography. Meanwhile, you can relax in the Elixir Spa. Now that's what I call a proper holiday.
