From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Air France, KLM and American Airlines all launched new mobile travel services this week, proving that the race to add new functionality to mobile travel is far from over.

The new mobile websites from Air France and KLM include the ability to change tickets (for flexible bookings) - something which the airlines say is a world first.

Like competitors' services, passengers can also check in, choose seats, add bags, check timetables and flight status and receive their boarding pass.

The airlines also confirmed that they would add the ability to book a ticket on a mobile phone later this year.

A spokesman for Air France/KLM said, "This new mobile offer will considerably facilitate every stage of the trip for customers of both airlines, giving them increased autonomy and ensuring they are better informed at every stage of their trip."

American Airlines, meanwhile, has also added a new feature to its mobile site.

Customers can now check whether or not their flight is wifi-equipped by going to aa.com/wifiwidget, which holds all details of flights using American's inflight internet service.

Both American Airlines and its rival Delta are also enticing US customers to try their new iPhone apps by offering the chance to win a million frequent flyer points.

Delta SkyMiles members must download the app before September 29 and American Airlines AAdvantage members must download by October 15 to have a chance of winning the million miles prize.
