Hotel Of The Week: 'Fashionable on the French Riviera'
WHEN A HOTEL is celebrating its 40th anniversary and still ranks as one of the most fashionable on the French Riviera, they must be doing something right. Byblos, built to resemble a provençal village in the heart of Saint-Tropez, opens from May to October to A-list celebs such as Naomi Campbell and Elton John. By day, they frequent the gorgeous pool; by night, they glide past the velvet rope of its nightclub Les Caves du Roy. But the aim is to treat all guests as VIPs and the attentive service is notable. To mark its anniversary, Byblos has also opened the world's first Sisley Spa.
The bedroom
Rooms and suites are vast with a mix of classic and contemporary designs. The refurb hasn't changed the overall style; instead new colour combinations have been introduced, and new signature fabrics by Lelièvre, Canovas, Frey and Rubelli have been used on the upholstery. All rooms have king-size beds, flat-screen Loewe TVs, iPod docks and air con. DVD players are supplied on request and Wi-Fi is available in the bar, lounge and lobby. Some rooms have private terraces.
