The inaugural year of EXIT festival, which has taken place anually since at the 17th-century Petrovaradin fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia. Its popularity has soared since its inception, attracting big-name acts such as Pulp, Editors and Arcade Fire to the event this summer (7-10 July). Despite high demand, advance tickets are still available. Choose to camp (£114 for four days), or book a package with flights, transfers and accommodation via the official EXIT tourism site from £350.

The estimated population of the town of Petrcane on Croatia's Adriatic coast. The numbers swell in this sleepy fishing village from July, when back-to-back festivals take place along the beach and pine-forested peninsula, starting with Garden Festival (6-13 July), the Electric Elephant (14-18 July), Soundwave (22-24 July) and Stop Making Sense (12-14 August). Original Music Travel offers packages to each from £460, with five nights' accommodation, flights and tickets.

The cost of standard return fare, in pounds, of a Eurostar ticket from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord. Hop on board to reach Rock en Seine festival in just over two hours. Ittakes place between 26-28 August and has The Kills and Interpol topping the bill. The leafy confines of Domaine National de St-Cloud park, just outside Paris, act as the festival site. Three-day camping tickets are available for €109.

Rather than risk rain at Creamfields in Cheshire (26-28 August), head to the sister event in sunny Spain from 13-14 August to see the Prodigy headline. Weekend camping tickets cost €70; Ryanair has flights from Stansted to Jerez for £135.

The date, this month, that the Rock Werchter festival starts in Belgium. The four-day event outside Brussels counts the Arctic Monkeys, Chemical Brothers and Kings of Leon among its headliners. Book through Thomas Cook's new dedicated site for festival packages, NoMud.com, and you'll get tickets, five nights' self-catering accommodation in Mechelen and flights from Heathrow on 29 June for £587. Packages to other festivals in Ibiza and Serbia are also on offer.

The number of years the Serbian town of Guca has been holding its festival. For those who like more brass than bass, this six-day event sees a cacophony of brass bands from across the Balkans descend from 11-16 August, alongside spit-roast feasts and traditional dancing. Songlines Music Travel offers a tour with five nights' B&B (including one night in Belgrade), tickets and a meet-and-greet with headliners for £495 per person. Flights are not included.
