Ibiza closing parties: where to eat, drink, dance and sleep at the end of the season
The best of the island, from beach clubs to unbeatable views
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.All-night parties, beautiful beaches, fabulous restaurants and an aquamarine sea. There is not much that Ibiza lacks. But with all that choice come decisions – what to do and what to leave out? Here is the best of the White Isle, just in time for the closing parties.
The club night: Paradise at DC10
It’s hard to describe DC10 because to do so is to do it an injustice, it being essentially a small farmhouse at the end of the runway of Ibiza’s airport. But, in fact, it is clubbing central, with a pedigree to rival Studio 54. Head on Wednesday to Paradise, the best night. One thing, don’t make any plans the next day: the official closing time is “no one knows”. You’ve been warned.
The beach club: Experimental Beach
Driving over the salt flats towards Experimental Beach in Playa des Codolar Salinas is like traversing the surface of the moon. Though unlike the lunar mission, here your journey ends with an Aperol spritz or one of Experimental’s famed Green and Tonics (gin, Hierbas Ibicencas, rocket, lime and apple juice). Eat your way through the tapas list – don’t miss the jamon croquetas – or else plump for the real showstopper: the seabass in salt crust for two, and get a real taste of the white isle.
The restaurant: Can Domingo
This beautifully restored traditional Spanish farmhouse has one of the most beautiful outdoor dining areas on the island – the hills roll into the distance and there isn’t a nighclub in sight. Can Domingo is rustic and unpretentious in style, serving food that’s Italian with a Spanish accent. A tonic for those with sore heads.
The hotel: ME Ibiza
Nestled in a secluded bay near Santa Eulalia on the east coast of Ibiza, the ME Ibiza manages to dance that fine line between party and relaxation. If you have a yacht, you can park it at the end of the hotel’s beautiful seafront gardens, while the rest of us park our hire cars in the front car park. Most guests are found soaking up the sun and eating Mediterranean cuisine on bookable beds by the rooftop infinity pool, or by the larger pool downstairs. With 179 rooms and 26 deluxe suites (Craig David rents one every Sunday with its own plunge pool) the hotel is moderately sized and serviced by an army of staff. Alberto Van Stokkum, the renowened fashion photographer provides the art. And from May to September, ME Ibiza hosts parties on the third or fourth Saturday of the month which sees DJs fly in from cities including London, Madrid and Milan – most recently US Techno group Life on Planets. Dance, relax, repeat. Doubles from €250, room only.
The sundowner spot: El Chiringuito
If the ME rooftop's 360-degree vistas of sea and land aren't enough for you, drink in the views and the vibes at El Chiringuito, a bar and restaurant right on the beach at Es Cavallet.
