Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Follow in the tyre tracks of the two-wheel racers of the Giro d'Italia along the Antrim coast. To celebrate the cycling grand tour choosing Belfast as its starting point last weekend, Hastings Hotels (028 9047 1066; hastingshotels.com) has a deal entitled "Ride the Road they Rode", supplying bike hire and maps of the tour for guests to follow, as well as accommodation in the newly refurbished Ballygally Castle, which was on the race route. The price is £77.50 per adult per night, £30 per child aged four to 12 years, including accommodation, route map and afternoon tea. Bike hire costs £25 per bike, per day.

Whizz along at up to 150kph on the Big Zipper, Europe's longest zipline, high above a lake at Zip World Snowdonia (zipworld.co.uk) in Wales. Get the adrenalin surging as you swing through the branches of the Tree Top Adventure (ttadventure.co.uk) at Betws y Coed. And hurtle around Wales's championship track at Go Karting (gygkarting.com) in Glan Y Gors Park. Pack these high-octane thrills into a week's stay by hiring one of the eight family-friendly holiday cottages in the area offered by Sheepskin (01865 764087; sheepskinlife.com), such as Cappele Cottage, sleeping four, from £1,145 per week.

Netball fans will be able to pick up tips from England coach Anna Mayes this summer at Forte Village Resort (fortevillageresort.com) in Sardinia. Children aged between five and 16 can brush up their feeds and feint passes at the hands-on sessions, which take place for an hour each morning of five days of the holiday. Academies run 19-26 July and 23-30 August. Seven nights cost from £3,450 in total for a family of two adults and two children, sharing, with Super Skills Experiences (0116 318 3244; superskillsexperiences.com), including transfers, half-board, and five two-hour netball sessions for two children. Excludes flights.
