Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

WHERE IS this? Your task is simply to guess in which city the picture on the right was taken. The prize for the first correct answer out of the hat will be a three-night break for two in that very city.

To enter, send your answer, along with your name, address and telephone number, on a postcard to: City Break Competition, the Travel Desk, Independent on Sunday, 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5DL. Entries must arrive by first post on Thursday 30 September.

Last week's city break competition was set in Dublin. The winner is EM Aspinall of Bath, who will travel with a friend to Dublin courtesy of Crystal Cities. After flying with British Airways from Gatwick or with Aer Lingus from Birmingham, Manchester or Glasgow, they will spend three nights at the three-star, centrally located Royal Dublin Hotel. Readers interested in visiting Dublin should call Crystal Cities (tel: 0181-241 5040). Two-night breaks at the Castle Hotel start from pounds 169. Three nights at the Royal Dublin cost pounds 269. Prices include scheduled return flights, accommodation and full Irish breakfast.
