Enjoy a family-friendly holiday in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis
From nursery slopes to adrenaline rides, there's something for everyone in the Austrian Tirol’s winter playground
It’s a family affair at Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, where 214km of sunny slopes spread out across the Samnaun Mountains and offer endless thrills for all ages. Enjoy the guaranteed snow and 2,000 hours of sunshine a year as you explore the 3,000m peaks of the Austrian Tirol’s winter playground.
Austrian Tirol nursery slopes
Between the neighbouring villages of Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis, you’ll find some of the best family-friendly skiing in Austria. Small children about to take their first turns on skis will be in expert hands on the nursery slopes at Kinderschneealm and Berta’s Kinderland. There’s more entertainment in store for kids while they ski along the interactive Murmli Trail and discover the wonders of Fiss Cave World.
When the kids need a break from skiing, they can relax and play in Berta’s Kindervilla before having another go on the snow. Babies and toddlers too young to ski are looked after royally in Murmli Crèche, giving parents time to hit the slopes on their own. Once the kids get their confidence going, they can try the mini freestyle jumps in the snowpark.
When you’re all skiing together, take time out to enjoy the snow-white vistas all around you. Bask in the winter sun on a hammock or on a lounger in one of the panoramic squares set on the slopes. And if a day’s skiing isn’t enough, come back in the evening for a bit of night skiing on floodlit pistes.
Tirolean cuisine
Discover the beauty of the Tirol on some of the snow-covered hiking trails that wind around the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski area. For something a little less sedate, hop on a sledge and whizz down specially-marked trails, or try the Schneisenfeger mechanical luge that zooms at speeds of up to 40km per hour.
That should get you in the mood for even more exhilarating family fun. Buckle up for a ride on the Skyswing, a giant swing that will leave you breathless. If that doesn’t get the adrenalin going (but it will), then strap yourselves in for a flight on the Fisser Flieger, which sends you flying at 80km per hour. Cap it off with a high-speed fling on the Serfauser Sauser zipline.
When it’s time to slow down and have a real taste of the Tirol, you’ll find a mouthwatering range of mountain restaurants serving hearty Austrian cuisine. Finish the evening with the glittering spectacle of outdoor musicals performed under the stars against the backdrop of these enchanting mountains.
With daily scheduled flights to Innsbruck from London Heathrow and London Gatwick, as well as services from Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Liverpool, it’s easy to discover the Austrian Tirol. For more details see serfaus-fiss-ladis.at
