During the same week the sixth annual M-Days congress-fair will take place in Germany. Speakers from Google, Coca Cola and Nokia, among others, will discuss emerging trends in the mobile industry.

Founded in 1985, the Macworld Conference and Expo is the largest annual Apple Macintosh event in the world. Hundreds of companies offering dedicated Mac products and services will be at the event to share their expert advice and show off their latest technology. Well over 35,000 people have already pre-registered for Macworld 2011, making it much larger than Apple's own annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is capped at around 5,000 places.

M-Days is a congress-fair for mobile communication, publishing and content solutions. Ninety exhibitors and 140 speakers from leading mobile and technology companies such as Google, BMW, Coca Cola, comScore and Nokia will be on hand to discuss emerging trends and present detailed insights on topics such as the mobile web, mobile marketing, LBS, apps, mobile commerce and mobile media. More than 2,000 visitors are expected to attend the event, which is significantly smaller than Spanish-based GSMA Mobile World Congress.

The Global Game Jam is a gaming tournament, but rather than applauding player skills, it elevates designers' digits and programmers' prowess. Over 120 worldwide tournament locations have been officially registered as venues for the game-making frenzy, where competitors are organized into adhoc teams before attempting to churn out one of the best games of the tournament. The top entries are then put forward for March's prestigious Game Developers Conference in San Diego.

IMAGINA is a software and 3D technology event in Europe that honors innovation within the 3D industry. Attendees will be able to watch and participate in conferences, round table discussions, meetings, workshops, 3D demonstrations and special events with businesses involved in creating 3D solutions for future technologies. In 2011 IMAGINA will embrace a new sector: the use of 3D in health care. A similar but smaller conference on 3D technology, 3D Days, is held in the Netherlands in November.

The fifth edition of Social Media Week will be held in September 2011.

GSMA Mobile World Congress is a four-day event dedicated to cutting-edge mobile technology. In 2010, 4,157 exhibitors from 68 countries and more than 330,000 visitors made their way to Hannover for CeBIT. In its heyday the expo managed to draw around 700,000 visitors but it has since shrunk in size. Nevertheless, with its 450,000-square-meter exhibition space CeBIT remains the world's largest digital IT and telecommunications event and eclipses the likes of COMPUTEX, CES and SITEX in exhibition size. In 2011, visitors will see the fair split into four platforms: CeBIT pro for professional and business ICT solutions; CeBIT gov for the public sector; CeBIT lab for innovative research and development and CeBIT life for the latest trends in consumer electronics.
