Sony, Canon, Samsung, LG, Pioneer, Panasonic, Bose and Yamaha are just some of the high-profile AV companies showing off their latest technology there in 2009.

The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world's largest consumer technology trade show. It is a highlight on most technology-minded people's calendar because it welcomes numerous high-profile technology companies and is the launch-place for many groundbreaking new gadgets and high-tech products. In 2010 the show will focus on green technology, with more than 30 exhibitors coming to the event to demonstrate environmentally friendly product concepts. Mobile Applications will also feature en masse at the event as analysts are predicting Apps to be one of the hottest global technology trends for 2010.

Global Game Jam

The Global Game Jam is a gaming tournament but rather than applauding player skills, it elevates designers' digits and programmers' prowess. Over 100 worldwide tournament locations have been officially registered as venues for the 48-hour game-making frenzy, where competitors are organized into adhoc teams before attempting to churn out one of the best games of the tournament. The top entries are then put forward for March's prestigious Game Developers Conference in San Diego.
