From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The last installment in the Uncharted series will now be released worldwide on 10 May, 2016, rather than 26 April.
Writing on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony's American boss Shawn Layden said the additional delay was to ensure the company could meet "considerable worldwide demand" and ensure that all PS4 owners have the opportunity to "play the game on day one."
He said: "We know this news might be disappointing, and we are sorry to have to make you wait a little longer to play Naughty Dog's latest."
In an attempt to reassure gamers, he said the upcoming title is "phenomenal" and will be "worth the wait."
Surprisingly, the reaction to the news hasn't been too negative. In this age of rushed-out games and day one patches, many gamers would rather wait a few days longer for release than receive a buggy and broken game early.
And even if there is some disappointment, PS4 owners will get a sneak peek of the game during this weekend's multiplayer beta.
