From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A trailer of the third and final installment in Christopher Nolan's Batman series, The Dark Knight Rises, was released on Facebook by Warner Bros. on July 18.

The one-minute 35-second trailer is the first from the upcoming film, which is due to be released on July 20, 2012. The trailer is currently the only item on the newly created Dark Knight Rises Facebook page and has, to date, been 'liked' over 12,000 times. The video was also later made available on Warner Bros.'s own Facebook page.

The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale, is the third in Christopher Nolan's series of Batman films, preceded by Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008.

Warner Bros. made the previous Batman film, The Dark Knight, available to watch on Facebook for users within the United States for around 30-40 Facebook credits, or $3-$4.
