From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Both Sony and Microsoft have issued title rosters for the Tokyo Game Show, ranging from Battlefield 3, Rage and Dance Central 2 through to Lollipop Chainsaw, X Golden Dream Song and Happy Charlie and the Flying Carnival.

Sony is pushing games for its PlayStation 3 home console, the current PSP handheld, and a 30-strong list for the upcoming PlayStation Vita.

For the PlayStation 3 there are well known games such as Uncharted 3, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, and the ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and Metal Gear Solid HD remakes.

The manufacturer is expected to name a release date for the PlayStation Vita, backed by titles such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Virtua Tennis 4, Hot Shots Golf Next, and Ridge Racer.

We can also expect updates on Dynasty Warriors Next - one of the few shown at the Vita's January 2011 announcement - as well as Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend and the Vita version of role-playing game Disgaea 3.

While Sony has collared the multi-platform Battlefield 3 for its show list, Microsoft can boast Skyrim and Rage, (a coup given the local popularity of the related Fallout 3), alongside the mainstream appeal of Star Wars Kinect, Disneyland Adventures Kinect, and Michael Jackson: The Experience.

The Tokyo Game Show runs September 15-18, while Nintendo plans to queue-jump the whole affair with a special 3DS press conference set for September 13.
