Your support makes all the difference.More than 10 million Android-powered Galaxy S smartphones are now in the hands of consumers around the world, just seven months after the phone was launched.
"The Galaxy S is the result of our 22 year heritage in the mobile industry. It is the realization of our concept of 'the Smart Life' - we wanted to makes users' lives more convenient, more exciting, and more integrated. Today's milestone shows that we have succeeded: 10 million Galaxy S users around the world are living the Smart Life," said JK Shin, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, in a January 3 announcement.
To reach the sales milestone, the company consistently sold more than 1.4 million devices per month.
To put the figure in perspective, Apple sold 1.7 million iPhone 4 devices during the first weekend the handset was launched.
According to technology blog DigiTimes, Apple recently raised it's shipment goal for 2011 and plans to sell a further 20 million iPhones during the first quarter of the year.
Finnish research company Inderes Oy says Nokia sold almost 4 million units of its flagship smartphone, the N8, during the fourth quarter of 2010.
