Samsung has unveiled two new flagship smartphones, which the electronics giant claims are the “world’s most powerful” smartphones.
The Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ were introduced by Samsung Electronics CEO DJ Koh at the Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York.
“It is the newest version of the world’s most powerful phone,” Mr Koh said.
Samsung will create a 5G version of the Galaxy Note 10+, similar to the Galaxy S10 5G, making it the second wave of Samsung devices to feature support for the next-generation technology. Apple is expected to include 5G support with its iPhone range of phones in 2020.
“5G is racing us towards new frontiers,” Mr Koh said. ”Samsung is at the forefront of the innovations that are making this possible. Our cities will be safer and smarter, transportation will be faster and more reliable.”
Mr Koh took the opportunity to lay out Samsung’s vision for an inter-connected 5G future, which was summed up with the tagline “Experience Innovation”.
There had been numerous leaks and rumours surrounding Samsung’s latest devices, some of which had come from the world’s biggest smartphone maker.
In July, several official Samsung pages in Europe appeared to accidentally publish details about the Galaxy Note 10+, revealing the colours it will come in, the operating system it will run and the various storage options.
It is part of a much broader trend that has plagued the smartphone industry in recent years, meaning there is little left to reveal at official unveilings.
It was already known that Samsung would opt for two different versions of the Note 10 – the first time it had offered two sizes for its Galaxy Note range. However some details remained a mystery right up until the launch.
The Note 10 devices come with an improved camera setup, which allows new augmented reality functions, as well as 3D scanning of objects.
It also comes with an updated S-Pen that features new motion-tracking technology that allow users to control their phone remotely.
The Galaxy Note 10 starts at $950, while the Galaxy Note 10+ starts at $1,100, making them more expensive than their predecessor. Both phones will be available from 23 August.
