The new iPhone is going to be shinier than ever, according to new rumours.

Apple's new handset will come in a reflective, mirror-like finish alongside what are presumably more traditional choices, according to a repeated Apple leaker.

In all there will be four different finishes, according to Benjamin Geskin, who provided a mock-up of what the new phone might look like.

The picture showed a case that has the same mirrored, reflective effect as a demonstration of how the new phone might look.

The potential leak comes soon after reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the expensive new phone will come with "boutique" colour options to fit with its increased price tag and to separate it from the less innovative iPhone 7s that's expected to be launched at the same time.

Apple has added new finishes with each of its recent phones, and the current iPhone 7 comes in a full six different colours. That includes the special Product RED edition that came out earlier this year, and the glossy Jet Black finish that premiered when the new handset was released late last year.

Mr Geskin didn't reveal what the other three colours of the new phone might be, but it's likely that at least one of the existing colours – which also include black, silver, gold and rose gold – will be available in the new phone too.

Apple will release the iPhone 8 later this year, potentially alongside a less expensive and innovative iPhone 7s. The new handset is expected to be one of the most radical redesigns ever, removing the bezel from around the screen, adding new display technologies, changing the camera and getting rid of both the home button and fingerprint sensor from the bottom of the phone.
