From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A video of a young child rocking out to heavy metal band Pantera has gone viral on YouTube and around the web on July 1.

"Metal Head Baby - Pantera - FN Hostile" was first uploaded to YouTube on June 24; as of July 1 the video has been viewed more than 430,000 times.

Though the video is several days old, YouTube statistics show that it did not begin attracting attention until June 28-29, when it began circulating on Facebook.

Since then it has grown in popularity and it is now, according to YouTube's blog, one of the most shared videos in the United States; statistics show that it is also popular in South America, Australia and parts of Europe and has mostly been viewed by men aged 18-44.

The video shows a young child placing his hands upon a table and banging his head in the style of heavy metal fans while Pantera's song "Fucking Hostile" plays in the background.

The video was uploaded by YouTube user JEPHMommy, who indicated that the child is named Jonah and has thanked YouTube users in the comment section for "making my son a viral hit."
