Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

"We know that you have access to an enormous amount of content, from more places than ever before," said Logitech.
"And that has made finding what you want to watch or controlling the devices to do it, more complex. With this line of products, the Google TV experience, and TV watching in general, is about to get so much easier for the millions of US households with an HDMI-ready TV."
The Logitech Revue with Google TV is a companion box that enables consumers with a HDMI-ready TV to browse the web, stream videos from sites like YouTube or Hulu, play Flash games, connect with friends on social networks and even show off photos on the biggest display in the house.
The Logitech Revue also comes with a wireless keyboard controller with a built-in touch pad and Google TV-specific buttons.
To add to your Google TV experience Logitech has also released the Logitech TV Cam so the TV can be used for VOIP video calls and a smaller "thumb typing" keyboard controller called the Logitech Mini Controller.
Consumers who prefer to control their TV with a touch screen can also download Logitech's soon-to-be released Android and iPhone controllers.
Sony is set to formally introduce its Google TV, an all-in-one internet TV that ships with the "Google TV experience" in the near future.
Meanwhile consumers face the task of deciding between the more limited internet TV options of Apple's $99 Apple TV, purchasing an all-in-one internet TV such as those made by Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Sharp, Toshiba and Vizio, getting their hands on a rival set top box from competitors such as Boxee and Roku, or waiting a year or so until the market matures.
Logitech Revue with Google TV will start shipping in the US before the end of October and will cost $299.
The Logitech TV cam will sell for $149.99, the Logitech Mini Controller for $129.99, and the iPhone and Android apps will be free from the App Store and Android Market.
