Your support makes all the difference. It’s been a busy week for Elon Musk. After helping Tesla reach a record share price and overseeing SpaceX’s launch of 60 new internet satellites into orbit, the tech billionaire has found time to release an EDM music track.
Musk posted the song, titled Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe to SoundCloud early on Friday morning, receiving hundreds of thousands of listens within hours of going online.
Musk also shared images on Twitter showing him working in a music studio, together with snippets of the lyrics.
“I wrote the lyrics and performed the vocals,” Musk exclaimed on Twitter.
The heavily synthesised vocals consist of just two lines: “Don’t doubt your vibe because it’s true. Don’t doubt your vibe because it’s you.”
It is not Musk’s first foray into EDM, having shared a meme-inspired track titled RIP Harambe last year. To date, the two-minute song has been played more than 2.5 million times.
The latest track has so far been met with a mixed response, with many of his Twitter followers praising the 48-year-old’s polymath ability.
“Thank you so much for being who you are, hands down one of the most interesting innovators and dreamers of our generation,” one wrote. “Love the track, so simple, but catchy and chill.”
Others were less complimentary, with one follower suggesting he should have let his girlfriend – the Canadian musician Grimes – help him.
It is not clear whether Grimes had any involvement with his latest venture.
The pair are rumoured to be expecting their first child together, after Grimes shared a picture with her one million Instagram followers of her posing nude with a foetus superimposed on her stomach.
