"Chuck Bass," the name of a character from American TV series Gossip Girl is the most talked about topic on Twitter on the morning of September 21.

In second place is the meme "#textsreadanddeleted," followed by the terms "#ireallythink" and "#muchlove."

People in the Netherlands are tweeting about "Prinsjesdag" ("day of the princes" in English), a day on which their current monarch provides details of future governmental policies.

Twitter users have been paying their respects to American football player Kenny "McKinley," who was found dead in his home on September 20. His name has since risen to sixth place in Twitter's most talked about topics.

"I Just spoke to my former teammate Brian Dawkins who informed me of tragic news that Broncos WR [wide receiver] Kenny McKinley was found dead, very sad news," tweeted American football player Donovan McNabb (@Donovan_McNabb).

"HIMYM," short for the name of American TV series How I Met Your Mother, is new on the charts in seventh place.

Some Twitter users in Europe have reportedly woken up to a thin layer of "mist" (or fog) and are tweeting about it.

The Dutch word for good morning, "Goedemorgen" is in ninth place followed by the promoted term, "New Selena Album," in regards to singer Selena Gomez's A Year Without Rain.
