From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Fastest growing Facebook games of the week ending January 29: visitor attraction sim Zoo World, animal and fish in island-based Tiki Farm, gritty urban drama in Gangster City.'

Zoo World storms the charts this week, making first place its own as 1.3 million Facebook users try their hand at zoo management, trading rare animals and visitor satisfaction tips with other Zoo World players.

Tiki Farm's growth rate halves from nearly 1 million to 580,000 but with 5.9 million total users trying it (and liking it), a place in the top 20 most popular Facebook games is within touching distance.

FishVille capitalizes on the combined 1 million players who didn't return to Happy Aquarium or Fish World this week by attracting another 730,000 more users to its own particular brand of fish care and collection.

Further down the chart, Gangster City makes an appearance after opening to the public a week ago. Though it plays in a fashion similar to the popular Mafia Wars, its visual style is very much inspired by the best-selling Grand Theft Auto games available for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS, PSP, and iPhone. The Pocket Gamer website was very impressed by it and described it as having the potential to knock Mafia Wars off its perch.
