Your support makes all the difference.The new Mortal Kombat fighting game, due out on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles in April 2011, has had two special editions detailed, featuring extra character costumes, art books, figurines, arcade control sticks and secret compartments.
The Kollector's Edition is available with figurines of Sub-Zero and Scorpion, MK characters who first appeared in the series' 1992 original, as well as an art book.
The Tournament Edition is a arcade-style fightstick controller which opens up to reveal a storage compartment for the game's display case.
For some, the fightsticks' apparent integration of a "run" button lends credence to the existence of a Mortal Kombat HD Kollection, a compilation of Mortal Kombat I, II and Ultimate Mortal Kombat III updated for modern consoles.
Both editions come with codes for classic costumes from the series' previous entries and, for Xbox 360 owners, costumes for their Xbox LIVE avatars. PlayStation 3 owners instead find the God of War series' Kratos as a playable character within all retail versions.
Mortal Kombat, known for its gory special moves, will be up against some tough competition, with Marvel vs Capcom 3 having built up a head of steam following a February 15 release in North America (February 18 in Europe).
Super Street Fighter IV, the latest in another famous Capcom franchise, is earmarked as a launch title for the Nintendo 3DS, out in Japan on February 26 and other territories during March.
