Late-night library style

With exams looming, you're going to be spending a lot of time in the library. And if you want to catch someone's eye, you'll have to look your best. Fashion blogger Alice Tate shows you how.

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

With January comes students’ least favourite time of year. The time when late nights are obligatory, coffee shakes are commonplace and the library is your home from home. I’m stressed, you’re stressed, its obviously exam time.

When the only time you can spare from revising is given to opening a can of Red Bull, you know times have got tough. It's then when you might be tempted to throw a sweater over your ‘jarmies as you head to the library and think ‘that’ll do’.

Its only when you get to the library, you’re rooting for your books or you’re skipping out for another coffee that you realise you’re in your teddy bear pyjamas, in front of other people, in public. Cue disapparation of any style kudos.

While no one should have the time to primp, groom or add finishing touches to perfect ensembles, exam season doesn’t need to mark the end of reason. Take a five-minute break from the grind to scroll through our options of style solving saviours to see you through these two-weeks of pain, sleet, snow and late nights.

Good luck with exams!
