Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Association of MBAs (AMBA) is hosting a fair as part of a campaign to “develop the next generation of sustainable leaders” as UK economic growth slows.
Following news from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) that industrial output in February 2016 had fallen 0.5 per cent from February 2015, AMBA said it is aiming to bring together those educating the leaders of the future, those recruiting them, and those aspiring to lead.
Research conducted by AMBA’s strategic partner, GMAC, surveyed 748 employers to find 84 per cent planned to recruit MBAs in 2015, compared to 74 per cent in 2014.
As well as this, research showed the MBA to be the most sought after postgraduate qualification in the opinion of the employers surveyed. AMBA also said it was “good news” for people with MBA qualifications because, according to its most recent Careers and Salary Survey, MBA graduates are expected to receive an average salary of £96,661 - an increase of 18 per cent since 2012.
Therefore, AMBA is looking to build stronger links between MBA students, those looking to take an MBA, businesses schools, and employers by hosting an accredited MBA fair on 20 April, bringing together high-potential leaders and some of the world’s top business schools including INSEAD, London Business School, and Imperial College Business School.
Representatives from the schools, which collectively offer more than £5 million worth of annual scholarships, will meet with aspiring MBAs to give them an insight of what it’s like to complete an MBA, and provide guidance on the application process.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to talk to admission officers to find the right programme, get invaluable information and advice from exclusive workshops, and also meet and network with fellow potential MBAs and share experiences and ideas.
AMBA’s chief executive, Andrew Main Wilson, said: “As the global labour market becomes increasingly heated and economies remain volatile and uncertain, businesses need a new breed of leader to future-proof economies, ride the chaos, and innovate through this complexity.
“Businesses and businesses schools have to collaborate and rise to the challenge of finding these diamonds in the rough.”
AMBA’s Spring Accredited MBA Fair will take place at the Grange Hotel at Tower Bridge on Wednesday April 20 from 5:30pm. Click here to book your free place.
