Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

What the winners say
“I’m still in shock! I can’t believe it. The team spirit is just unbelievable; everyone works for each other. It’s a great achievement for the school, and it’s credit to the coaches full stop. They just work with you, work with you, work with you. And the lads themselves, they’ve worked for this sort of stuff.
Fisher were very physical, they were very good. They had pace, and we just had to defend, we barely played structure with the ball in the hand, we just had opportunist tries. It’s an amazing tournament, all credit to the officials. It’s got every team in the country, it’s how you find out where you stand.
It’s a fantastic tournament, and I’ve played in it a few times now. To win it is something else. It’s just a breeding ground for talent as well. I think they should get more club scouts here!” Charles Simpson-Daniel, Sedburgh Captain
“We’ve had a struggle with injuries and various different things, and the boys showed tremendous spirit. I’m extremely proud for the boys really. All we did was take each game as it came. We had a hell of a semi final against Millfield – a win in the last second – and we defended extremely well in this final against a very quick Fisher side. We’re over the moon.” Dan Harrison, Sedburgh Coach
