Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

For the second year running, The i Paper is teaming up with a great sponsor to give students a pub quiz that's free to enter - with a brilliant prize

Thanks to the wonderful Topdeck Travel, entrants are in with a chance to 14 days in Europe next summer, travelling to seven different countries and taking part in some unique activities, from cheese and clogs in Holland to vaporettos in Venice.

Student Brand Ambassadors, all second-year students studying an eclectic range of disciplines from 19 different universities, have been putting in the hours to organise the first iQuiz of this academic year.

Teams will pit themselves against each other at venues in each city, measuring their knowledge of the weird, the wonderful and the news of the world in a temple-tickling five rounds devised especially by The Independent's resident quiz maestro Simon O'Hagan. Winners from each university will win themselves i subscriptions, and then go on to the final battle of wits in February to win a serious summer adventure. No-one said it was going to be easy – but you can make it easier by swotting up on the i in the next couple of weeks!

All you need to do to enter is get yourself a team of four people, get in touch with your university's SBA (we're all students too, we won't bite), and get yourself to the venue for 19.00 on the 19 November with your noggins full of knowledge!

And no, you can't confer with Google.
