Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Blaz Mahkovic scored arguably the most difficult shot ever witnessed on a basketball court over the weekend.
With Union Olimpija Ljubljana well on their way to a massive win over Partizan Belgrade in the Adriatic league, Mahkovic got the crowd going late on with an unbelievable made shot.
After a team-mate had launched a three-point attempt that didn't even find the rim, Mahkovic launched himself at the ball as it was heading out of play.
In one movement Mahkovic managed to get his hand to the ball, keep his feet off the floor and fling the ball over the back of the backboard to drop into the net.
Olimpija were already 21 points up before the successful two point attempt, and went on to lose the game by 29, 87-58.
It was an attempt the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant would have struggled with - maybe Mahkovic is on his way to the NBA...
