From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Brown played one year of college basketball for the California Golden Bears in the 2015/16 season, being named first-team all-conference and Freshman of the Year in the Pac-12 Conference.
Brown was selected by the Celtics with the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft. He has improved year on year, particularly in the last two seasons.
In December last year, Brown scored a career-high 42 points along with five rebounds and four assists in a 126–107 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 24-year-old has been selected to the 2021 All-Star team, which will fittingly be played in his childhood state Georgia, for his first time being named an NBA All-Star.
Standing at 6ft 6in and 223lbs, it will be interesting to see how Brown does in the 3-Point Contest as well although a persistent knee injury has ruled him out of the dunk competition.

“Dunk contest would have been great if I could have done it,” he said.
“I don’t think my body is agreeing with me right now in terms of that. But that’s something I was looking to do, but I don’t think it’s going to work out that way.”
