It appears the long distance between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jose Mourinho is getting to the former Manchester United forward.

Speaking in a video posted on United’s official Twitter page as the club met for their end of season awards on Tuesday, the enigmatic Swede said that while he is certainly enjoying the warming climes of LA, he is still missing his former club, and in particular, United boss Jose Mourinho.

Ibrahimovic moved to LA Galaxy back in March after his contract was mutually terminated at Old Trafford.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward had found first-team opportunities limited after re-signing for the club following a serious knee injury sustained last season.

"Here, everything is okay. I enjoy the sun every day,” he said.

"I want to say to all the fans: 'I miss you, I miss playing at Old Trafford and seeing all the red shirts'. I have great memories from there.

"I want to thank everybody for the push, adrenaline and energy you gave me. I want to thank my team-mates also because you have been fantastic and you made it easy for me.

"Coach [Jose Mourinho], I miss you also. You know what you need to do to win. There is no secret behind that."

Mourinho and Ibrahimovic have had a strong bond ever since they started working together at Serie A club Inter back in 2008, with the striker describing the Portuguese coach in his autobiography I am Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a “winner” and a man who “pumped me up and cut me down”.

The striker cited Mourinho as a key reason for why he chose to sign for United back in 2016, going on to make 44 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 22 goals.

Ibrahimovic also said in the video that he voted for eventual winner David De Gea as United’s Player’s Player of the Year.

"Even if a goalkeeper shouldn't win player of the year, but he has had a fantastic year," he said. "He continues that high level of performance."

De Gea also became the first player to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the year award four times.

Zlatan has made five appearances for new club LA Galaxy, scoring three times, including a memorable double on his MLS debut against new cross-city rivals LAFC, where he came off the bench to score from 40 yards before heading home the winning goal in stoppage time.
