Ronda Rousey has already taken the UFC by storm, but even by her standards, the 14-second victory over Cat Zingano at UFC 184 to retain her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship last week was mightily impressive.

So why on earth presenter Aaron Tru decided to rile her up before being hip-tossed by the pound-for-pound No 1 female athlete remains a mystery.

In a video filmed for MMA Prime, Tru claims Rousey “doesn’t have enough strength and can’t compete with a man”. Mistake number one.

Rousey admits that his remark is “exactly how to push my buttons”, before Tru leaves himself open to a violent throw to the floor. Mistake number two.

Mistake number three? Well, we don’t get that far, as a handful of seconds later Tru is left motionless on the floor, gasping for air and wincing in pain in equal measure having suffered broken ribs upon impact.

Watch the video below...

“I felt my ribs crush,” Tru is heard to say.

Rousey, amid a fit of laughter, starts to show concern for Tru once it becomes apparent he’s not joking, and apologises for leaving him incapacitated. Unfortunately for Tru, the damage is already done, but then again Tru did ask for it.

Much has been said this week regarding how Rousey would do in a fight against a male competitor from the same weight division. On this evidence, she’d more than hold her own.
