UFC 308 plays out in Abu Dhabi this weekend, as Ilia Topuria defends the featherweight title against Max Holloway in the main event.
It is one of the most anticipated fights of the year, and each man enters the Octagon with an impressive knockout in his last outing. Topuria claimed the belt with a brutal finish of Alexander Volkanovski in February, while Holloway won the ‘Baddest Motherf*****’ title with an all-time great KO of Justin Gaethje in April.
Topuria’s title win kept him unbeaten, made history due to his Spanish and Georgian background, and ended the long reign of Volkanovski, who beat Holloway three times. But Holloway, himself a former champion, always seems to bounce back in fine fashion.
The Hawaiian’s current winning run peaked at UFC 300, when he dominated Gaethje for the best part of five lightweight rounds, before putting the American out cold in the final second of their fight – earning him this title shot in his usual division.
And in Saturday’s co-main event, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker faces unbeaten, rising star Khamzat Chimaev in another highly-anticipated bout. Here’s all you need to know.
When is UFC 308?
The event is due to take place on Saturday 26 October at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The prelims are due to begin at 3pm BST (7am PT, 9am CT, 10am ET), with the main card following at 7pm BST (11am PT, 1pm CT, 2pm ET).
How to watch the fights
The card will air live on TNT Sports Box Office in the UK at a cost of £19.99, with the broadcaster’s app and website also streaming the fights. Discovery+ will also air the action in the UK. In the US, ESPN+ will stream the event live, as will the UFC’s Fight Pass.
