Q. The brothers Adam and Ben Hollioake played in the Fifth Test against Australia. Who were the last brothers to play for England in the same Test match?

A. D.W Richardson of Worcestershire (b 3 November 1934) and P E Richardson of Worcestershire and Kent (b 4 July 1931) played one Test together at home to the West Indies in 1957. It was the younger brother's only international appearance, though Peter played 34 times for England between 1956 and 1963, scoring 2,061 runs at an average of 37.47. - Tim Mickleburgh, Grimsby.

A. May I refer to the Studd brothers who played against the Australians in 1882. But how many occasions have two sets of brothers played as the Waughs and Hollioakes did at Trent Bridge? - K Maguire, Batley, West Yorkshire.

Q. Paul Ince has joined that rare breed of player who has played for both Liverpool and Manchester United at senior competitive level since the Second World War. I believe Phil Chisnall may have been the last player to do so, in the early Sixties. Can anyone confirm this?

A. Peter Beardsley played for Manchester United in his early days. He made one appearance for the senior team coming on as substitute in the early 1980s. He then went on to play 155 times for Liverpool - L Page, Crosby, Liverpool.
