Wednesday - Sheffield United's reward for winning at Notts County on Saturday is a fourth-round F A Cup tie at home to Third Division leaders Cardiff. In the Worthington Cup, Tottenham's five-in-a-month series against Wimbledon continues with the semi-final first leg at White Hart Lane.
Friday - Whisper it softly, but Manchester City are creeping stealthily towards the Second Division play-off zone. Stoke will be out to ensure it does not last.
Saturday - Back to the Premiership. With Arsenal-Chelsea scheduled for Sunday, Aston Villa will regain top place if they do not lose at Newcastle, while Leeds can go fourth by winning at Southampton. Liverpool are at Coventry, while revivalists test their mettle when Blackburn meet Tottenham. In the First Division, leaders Sunderland are at Watford, Bolton face Norwich and newly bought-out Huddersfield seek to put their promotion drive back on track at home to Bristol City.
Sunday - In addition to the champions against the pretenders, free-falling Charlton Athletic are in London action against Manchester United. In the First Division, Bradford meet fellow promotion-chasers Birmingham at St Andrew's.
