Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Greg Rusedski yesterday crashed out of the Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami in the second round. The British No 2, who needed three sets to defeat qualifier Andreas Seppi on Thursday, lost in straight sets to Sweden's Thomas Johansson.
The left-hander's normally potent serve failed to fire as the he recorded three double faults and just four aces.
After an early exchange of breaks in the opening set, 25th seed Johansson broke Rusedski's serve for a second time to take the set 6-3. The former Australian Open champion, getting back to top form after a long injury lay-off, has always been a tough opponent for Rusedski, winning six of their 10 previous encounters - including two on grass.
Another break of serve in the fifth game of the second set gave Johansson, who celebrated his 30th birthday on Thursday, the cushion he needed to secure a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
