From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 23-year-old Scot, making his first appearance since the US Open at this week's China Open, said in Beijing that he was determined not to make a rushed appointment following his split with Miles Maclagan in the summer. For the time being, Murray will work with Alex Corretja, who has been a part-time member of his coaching team for the past two years.
"I don't want to just go for anyone and it might be a mistake in three or four months," Murray said. "I'm going to keep working with Alex through the end of the year and then look to appoint someone before the start of the new year, probably in December time, when I've got a bit of time to try some coaches out."
Having taken a break after New York, Murray has been back in training for the past two weeks. After practising indoors, he said he would need to get used to the windy conditions in Beijing this week. The world No 4 will then play the last two Masters events, in Shanghai and Paris, and should qualify for the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London in November.
