Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The eighth-seeded Coetzer blasted the Romanian 6-0, 6-4 on a slow second day at the $535,000 event. Most of the top players like Williams and Martina Hingis play their first matches on Wednesday and Thursday.
Williams, who captured her first clay court title at the event last year, has been sidelined with tendinitis since losing to Hingis in the season-ending Chase Championships in November.
Williams attended fashion school in Florida during her layoff while her father Richard fueled speculation that she would retire at the end of the season to concentrate on her studies.
She will play her first match on Thursday, while the top-seeded Hingis is also coming back from taking a month off and will see her first action on Wednesday.
HIngis could regain the top ranking if she reaches the tournament's final. The Swiss teen-ager hasn't played since beating current No 1 Lindsay Davenport at the Ericsson Open in Miami, Florida.
Russia's Anna Kournikova, the sixth seed, also swings into action on Wednesday against Israel's Anna Smashnova after drawing big crowds to her practices.
