The world No 42, who turned pro in 2001, has no titles to his name but has already sent seeded players like Roberto Bautista Agut and John Isner packing.
However, that doesn’t change the fact he only has a slight chance of going past Djokovic who has been in flying form since the beginning of the tournament.
Djokovic hasn’t dropped a set yet and remains the major contender for the title. If he wins against Muller he will match his performance from last year. For Muller fourth round is already his best Melbourne performance to date.
The winner will face either Feliciano Lopez or Milos Raonic in the quarter-finals.
