First set: Murray* 6 Wawrinka 4
MURRAY WINS FIRST SET
What an epic, hypnotic game. Wawrinka was under the cosh for so long but forced Murray into a sensational recovery at his baseline at 30-15 before delivering the knock-out blow. But it all came to nothing in the end as Murray capped a remarkable first set to seal it on second set point as Wawrinka returns long, jumping on the spot and roaring at the skies. It's in Andy's hands now!
Second set: Murray 6-4, 0-1 Wawrinka*Just the start Wawrinka needed as he takes the lead in the second set. It was quite possible the most impressive set we've seen in France so far too with last year's winner spraying the ball around effortlessly, dragging Murray from side to side and imposing himself assuredly.
Second set: Murray* 6-4, 1-1 Wawrinka
Back comes Murray on serve. The Scot is playing out of his skin, forcing Wawrinka into the occasional uncharacteristic error at the net.
Second set: Murray 6-4, 2-1 Wawrinka*
A host of withering backhands from Murray has put him firmly in the ascendancy and Wawrinka may be feeling like this one is slipping away. That's conjecture, of course, by Murray is showing the sort of form we've been willing him on towards for so long this calendar year. Murray breaks serve again. 2-1.
Third set: Murray* 6-4, 6-2, 4-6 Wawrinka
WAWRINKA WINS THIRD SET
Well you certainly can't say he doesn't deserve that! Wawrinka shows fortitude to pull Murray back and prolong the affair, creaking open the door on a potentially stunning comeback. We got again folks!
Fourth set: Murray 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 Wawrinka*
Murray starts the fourth set as he means to go on, breaking Wawrinka's serve to put some wind in his sails. Now he just needs to hold his nerve and avoid suffering a break of his own and the path to the final will widen.
Fourth set: Murray* 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 2-0 Wawrinka
He had to work for it but Murray endorses the break and strengthens his hand. Resume the flow of the previous set, going with service, and the match is his. Can he do it?! The heavens look like they may be about to open above Paris but nothing happening as of yet.
Fourth set: Murray 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 2-1 Wawrinka*
Well, well, well. Wawrink just will not go away. It looks for so long like he would secure the crucial break to put him on the precipice. A succession of brillaint shots, one a drop shot, the other a magnificent lob, handed the Scot with a guilt-edged chance to see off Wawrinka and book that final shot. But the reigning champion came back to win the game. We carry on!
