From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Scot, who landed the Thailand Open title on Sunday, raced to a 6-1 6-2 success over the American in 58 minutes.
Murray, the second seed, made hard work of beating Marcos Baghdatis in the opening round, but was in no mood to hang around today as he broke five times to seal victory.
Murray, who sent down 11 aces, did not face a single break point, winning 95% of points on his first serve.
The American struggled badly on his own delivery, Murray winning 71% of points on the American's second serve.
He broke three times in the opening set and twice in the second as his 28-year-old opponent was blown away.
The win was the world number four's 18th in his last 19 matches, the lone defeat in that run coming at the hands of Rafael Nadal in the US Open semi-finals.
Murray could get the chance to avenge that defeat in Tokyo with the pair scheduled to meet in the final.
