Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Aston Villa v Southampton

Staunton looks certain to be ruled out of the Villa defence with shin and ankle injuries. Scimeca or Taylor are likely to deputise. Southampton welcome Hall back to their defence after a calf strain but Monkou starts a one-match ban and Venison (back injury) is doubtful.

Blackburn v Newcastle

Hendry returns to the Blackburn defence after suspension. Gillespie could win a Newcastle place at Lee's expense.

Bolton v Chelsea

Bolton may recall Thompson and De Freitas in place of Green and Paatelainen. They will also check the fitness of Coleman, who needed six stitches in a cheek wound sustained on Saturday. Chelsea have no injury worries, although Hughes is again missing through suspension.

Leeds v Nottingham Forest

Leeds could welcome back Yeboah after a knee injury. Ford serves a one- match suspension. Forest are almost certain to be without Roy (hamstring). Campbell, sidelined for the past fortnight with Achilles tendon trouble, could deputise, although Guinan may get another opportunity.

Liverpool v West Ham

Bjornebye is in line to replace Harkness, who broke a leg in Liverpool's defeat at Coventry. Ruddock is suspended and Wright and Babb are injured. With Dumitrescu, Cottee and Moncur injured, West Ham may give another chance to Dani. Potts, available after a one-match suspension, may be on the bench.

Manchester United v Coventry

Bruce has a hamstring injury and May stands by to deputise in the United defence. Keane is suspended. Coventry await fitness checks on Ndlovu (knee) and Borrows (rib). They are already without Shaw (fractured cheekbone) and Burrows (hamstring).

QPR v Everton

With Barker suspended, Wilkins, the QPR player-manager, may play again in midfield. Everton have no injury worries but include Short, who has completed a suspension, and youngsters O'Connor and Branch in a 17-man squad.

Sheffield Wednesday v Arsenal

Wednesday delay selection, but Pressman is again expected to be preferred to Woods in goal. Arsenal have no injury worries.

Tottenham v Middlesbrough

Tottenham are likely to be without Sinton (thigh) and Howells (hamstring). Middlesbrough give late tests to Barmby (foot) and Cox (calf strain).

Wimbledon v Manchester City

Cunningham is expected to return from suspension for Wimbledon in place of Ardley. Manchester City must decide whether Kavelashvili retains his place in the starting line-up at the expense of Rosler.
