From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Speculation that Graham Taylor, the former England manager, is set for a return to his old club was mounting last night after Watford parted company with their manager, Glenn Roeder.

Stuart Timperley, the Watford chairman, announced that Roeder had paid the price for a miserable run which has seen Watford anchored to the bottom of the table. However, he refused to reveal whether Roeder had been sacked or had resigned - and was also unwilling to comment on Taylor's return, other than to say the club would make an announcement tomorrow.

Roeder, who had been in charge since July 1993 and is leaving along with his assistant, the former England and Arsenal full-back Kenny Sansom, and the reserve-team coach, Stuart Murdoch, said: "I am sure I have learnt from this experience."

n The Football Association has launched a campaign against unlicensed agents and clubs who work with them. The FA promised to act after a meeting with the 25 English agents to review their first year of working under regulations laid down by Fifa, the world governing body.
