Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Three teams are at the top of the Sunday League after Northamptonshire and Yorkshire joined Surrey on 28 points yesterday. They had emphatic victories against Middlesex and Hampshire respectively, while Surrey lost at home to Sussex.
Michael Bevan hit an unbeaten 98 - his best one-day score of the season - to lead Yorkshire to a seven-wicket win at Headingley. It was the Australian left-hander's eighth half-century in 18 limited-overs innings this season, his runs coming from only 96 deliveries as he struck one six and five fours.
Along the way, he topped 1,000 runs in the Sunday League in his 26th innings, while Martyn Moxon, in reaching 46, became the third Yorkshire batsman to achieve the 4,000-run mark.
After three successive defeats Northamptonshire were put back on track by Richard Montgomerie in their six-wicket win. His 69 off 85 deliveries with nine fours saw the home side pass Middlesex's 181 for 8 with 29 balls to spare.
At Guildford, Sussex's Martin Speight hit his first century in any form of cricket for two years as the leaders Surrey ended 75 runs short of their target of 282. Speight's 117, made off 96 balls included five sixes and 10 fours.
