From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The battle for the Premier Division championship is going down to the wire, with Sheffield Steelers and Cardiff Devils battling it out for league supremacy, writes Larry Darbon.
Both won their matches this weekend but the Steelers hold the upper hand by a solitary point following away wins against Basingstoke Bisons (5- 1) and Newcastle Warriors (5-3).
The Devils also had success on the road, beating Milton Keynes Kings 5-4 before going home to overwhelm Nottingham Panthers 10-2. At the other end of the league the team in last place, Slough Jets, saw their predicament worsen following defeats to Fife Flyers (16-6) and Durham Wasps (11-2).
Manchester Storm continue to run away with the First Division, beating Guildford Flames 6-2 and returning home to a crowd of over 11,000 to beat Swindon Wildcats 8-2.
