Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The weather has played havoc with the scheduling of the British Inter-Club Championship. The oft-postponed competition, shortened to one day, will now be held off the beach at Woolacombe, north Devon, this Sunday. The forecast, however, is sunshine, with winds moderating throughout the day. Should the surf at Woolacombe be unsuitable though, two alternative venues have been earmarked. Putsborough is south of Woolacombe on the same beach. Lynmouth is east of Woolacombe. Croyde, the local surf club, have won the Championship for the last three years and should prove unstoppable on home territory.

How to get there: Woolacombe, north Devon, is south-west of Ilfracombe and north-west of Barnstaple. The championships start at 9am. If conditions at Woolacombe are not suitable, two other sites will be tried. Putsborough is south of Woolacombe. Lynmouth is about 10 miles east of Woolacombe (B3343, A3123, A339 and A39). A notice will be posted at Woolacombe, should the championships be moved.
